StringExtensionPolyfillExtensionIndexOfAny(String, String, Int32) Method

Returns the zero-based index of the first occurrence of one of the the specified characters in s. The search starts at the specified startIndex.

Parameters

s  String
The String to search.
anyOf  String
A String that contains the characters to search for or null.
startIndex  Int32
The zero-based index in s at which the search starts.

Return Value

Int32
The zero-based index of the first occurrence of one of the specified Unicode characters in the specified part of s or -1 if none of these characters have been found in this area. If anyOf is an empty span, the method returns -1.

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type String. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter. For more information, see Extension Methods (Visual Basic) or Extension Methods (C# Programming Guide).

Remarks

If the length of anyOf is less than 5, the method uses MemoryExtensions.IndexOfAny<T>(ReadOnlySpan<T>, ReadOnlySpan<T>) for the comparison. If the length of anyOf is greater, String.IndexOfAny(char[]) is used.

Exceptions

ArgumentNullExceptions is null.
ArgumentOutOfRangeExceptionstartIndex is not a valid index in s.
